Our Relationship with the Medical Community

Located just 1.5 miles from North Carolina Children’s Hospital, our House provides lodging and comfort to more than 1,800 pediatric patient families each year.  Our mandate, as a Ronald McDonald House, is to provide lodging and care to families receiving treatment in any area medical facility so we will accept referrals from any area hospital. However, approximately 99% of our referrals come from North Carolina Children's Hospital.  We are proud to partner with NCCH, serving families from every county in the state of North Carolina and beyond, regardless of their ability to make a donation. 

We work closely with various members of the Hospital staff, receiving referrals and communicating about special family needs. 

RMH staff members participate in hospital committees, such as the NCCU Family Advisory Board and the Pediatric Palliative Care Committee. 

Several members of UNC Hospital's administrative and clinical staff serve as Ronald McDonald House Board members each year.

In late 2010 we will also open a Ronald McDonald House Family Room inside North Carolina Children’s Hospital.
